After-hours missed calls for contractors

After hours is when good leads disappear. They are not loyal yet. They call two more companies and the first one to respond wins. The goal is not to chat. The goal is to acknowledge fast and collect enough information to call back ready.

Operator note
Operator note: do not try to book by text after hours. Acknowledge fast, collect basics, then call back with a slot.

The system

  1. Missed call triggers a short text-back within one minute.
  2. Text collects name, job type, city or address, urgency.
  3. You call back in the morning with context and a slot.

Scripts (copy you can steal)

After-hours text-back
Hi, this is {Company}. Sorry we missed your call. What kind of help do you need and what city are you in? If this is urgent, say urgent.
Next-day follow-up
Morning. This is {Company}. I saw your call last night. Do you still need help with that job? If yes, what address are we heading to?
Emergency triage
If this is a safety issue, shut off the water or breaker if you can and reply with your address. If it is not urgent, tell me the job type and city.

Common mistakes

  • Long messages. Keep it short.
  • Asking for too much. Get the basics first.
  • Promising a time you cannot hit.
